What is a queue and how does it work?

What is the queue or virtual waiting room? The queue (also called a virtual waiting room) activates automatically during high-traffic periods to protect your event page, ensure a fair experience for buyers, and prevent outages or disruptions.

How the queue works

When a TicketLeap event generates significant traffic, the queue activates automatically to manage demand. Buyers are placed in line and assigned a random position — joining earlier doesn't improve your spot. Anyone who arrives after the initial queue fills will be placed at the back of the line.

As a seller, you don't need to do anything to set it up or manage it. The queue is triggered and disabled automatically based on traffic levels, so it will turn off on its own once demand subsides.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the queue be disabled, turned off, or bypassed? No. The queue cannot be manually cleared, disabled, or bypassed — by sellers or buyers. It exists to protect your event page from outages and ensure a fair, orderly process for everyone. It will disable itself automatically once traffic returns to normal levels.

How long will buyers have to wait? Wait times vary by event and depend on demand and position in line.

What happens if a buyer refreshes or closes the page? Their spot updates automatically as others ahead move through checkout. If they refresh, close, or leave the page, their position may be lost and they'll return to the back of the line.

What do buyers see when it's their turn? A pop-up and a short bell sound will notify them. They'll have 10 minutes to enter the site — if they don't, they'll need to rejoin the queue. Once inside, they complete their purchase as usual.

Are buyers guaranteed tickets? No. Sales are first-come, first-served and depend on availability. If tickets sell out while someone is in line, a message will appear on the queue page. Tickets may occasionally return to the pool if a cart times out, so buyers may still have a chance.
